Today, at I/O, we shared a glimpse of how we’re continuing to bring AI into Workspace, highlighting new ways AI can help people in the work they do every day. As AI reshapes our world, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the barrage of claims and predictions about the potential for AI to transform every facet of the workday. Amid all the noise, we’re here to help you leverage AI effectively to achieve your business goals.
And business users are already seeing the impact, with Workspace delivering 2 billion AI assists every month. Today’s updates span the tools you use every day, with new capabilities in Gmail, Meet, Vids, and Docs — helping you respond faster in email, connect across languages, tell stories with video, and write with relevant sources.
Reclaiming your time with Gemini in Gmail
Replying to email often means referencing details buried in other files, or re-reading long threads just to gather context. And it takes time to write in the way you want. Personalized smart replies in Gmail will help you draft emails that match your specific context and your tone. By pulling from your past emails and Google Drive, Gemini provides response suggestions with specific details that are more relevant and on point, eliminating the need to dig through your inbox and files yourself. Crucially, it also adapts to your typical tone — whether crisp and formal or warm and conversational — so your replies sound authentically like you. (Generally available later this year.)
Meanwhile, emails keep piling up, making it difficult to stay organized and feel in control of your inbox. Gemini doesn’t just help you write and find emails; now it can take over those time-consuming and dreaded email tasks, starting with deleting or archiving emails you no longer need. Reclaim control over your emails with inbox cleanup. Simply tell Gemini what you want to do (e.g., “Delete all of my unread emails from The Groomed Paw from last year”) and watch as it helps you manage and declutter your inbox with a single click. (Generally available next quarter.)
Another email pain point is the frustrating back-and-forth that comes with trying to schedule a meeting or appointment with someone outside your organization. Without visibility into their calendars, it can take multiple rounds of emails to nail down a suitable time. Now, with fast appointment scheduling integrated into Gmail, you can easily offer times for customers or clients to book, without ever leaving your inbox. Gemini in Gmail detects when you’re trying to set up a meeting and surfaces a helpful nudge, making it easy to share your booking page right in Gmail, significantly reducing the time and effort spent coordinating schedules. (Generally available next quarter.)

Connect naturally — across borders and languages
Language differences are a fundamental barrier to connecting with other people — whether you're working across regions or just chatting with family abroad. That’s why we’re introducing speech translation in Google Meet, launching first to consumers.
This new feature translates your spoken words into your listener’s preferred language — in near real time, with low-latency, and while preserving your voice, tone, and expression. The result is a conversation that feels authentic and natural, even across languages — whether it’s English-speaking grandchildren chatting effortlessly with their Spanish-speaking grandparents, or global colleagues connecting across continents.
Starting today, speech translation in Google Meet will begin rolling out to subscribers of Google AI Pro and Ultra plans in beta, initially in English and Spanish, with more languages coming in the next few weeks. We're also further developing this capability for businesses, with early testing coming to Workspace customers this year.

Making video a practical tool for work — no matter your skills or budget
Video continues to be one of the most effective ways to train teams, onboard new employees, and explain ideas. But most people don’t have the time, editing skills, or budget to make it happen. We launched Google Vids last year to help make visual storytelling more accessible.
With Vids, you can turn existing Google Slides into engaging videos. Imagine transforming an existing sales deck or a quarterly business review presentation into dynamic, shareable videos that truly capture your audience's attention. Gemini can help generate scripts, voiceovers, animations, and more. (Generally available next quarter.)
And for those moments when you make a recording and discover a bunch of distracting “ums” and “ahs,” automatic transcript trim can help. Gemini generates a transcript of your recording, then identifies and removes filler words and awkward pauses with one click. If your video’s sound quality is uneven, you’re also a single click away from adjusting sound levels across the entire video with balance sound. No complicated audio mixing needed! (Balance sound will be generally available next month, while transcript trim will be available in Labs next quarter.)

What if there simply isn’t time or budget to film the right spokesperson for your video, but you want to ensure a polished and consistent way to deliver your message? Maybe you’re producing a dozen support or training videos and need a reliable way to present information clearly and professionally. With AI avatars in Vids, you can skip the hassle of coordinating talent and video production. Just write a script and choose an avatar to deliver your message for you. It’s a fast, consistent way to create polished video content — for onboarding, announcements, product explainers, and more — without the cameras or coordination headache. (Coming to Labs next month.)

With powerful AI tools built in, Vids makes it easier than ever to create and share video stories. Starting today we’re bringing Vids, including all these new features, to anyone with a Google AI Pro or Ultra plan.
Create richer, more detailed visuals with Imagen 4 in Workspace
To further enhance your visual storytelling, when generating an image in Slides, Vids, Docs, and more, you’ll now have access to our latest model, Imagen 4. This means you'll be able to create richer, more detailed visuals with ease, with more accurate spelling and text rendering, whether you're designing product mock-ups, generating visually striking graphics for your brand campaign, or developing engaging infographics for your quarterly presentation. (Generally available starting today.)

Writing confidently, with the right information at hand
Writing takes focus — but the sources you need are often scattered across decks, data, and documents. That’s why we're introducing source-grounded writing help in Google Docs. Now you can link any relevant decks, data, and reports directly into a Google Doc and Gemini will only pull from these sources when providing writing assistance, keeping suggestions focused and grounded in trusted content. So whether you're working on a status update, a research summary, or a business plan, you’re writing with exactly the context you need — no guesswork, no switching tabs. (Generally available next quarter.)
